Xiaomi Delivers More Than 50,000 Cars in October

Xiaomi’s vehicle wing recently posted its best monthly delivery figure of 2026, with shipments crossing the 50,000-vehicle mark for only the second time in its history. The brand launched in April 2024 as the vehicle arm of smartphone giant Xiaomi Corporation, entering one of the world’s most competitive car markets and swiftly becoming one of the largest contenders.

Before October, the only time deliveries had cleared 50,000 was December 2025, when 50,212 units were shipped. Against the 40,015 deliveries in September, October represents a jump of at least 25%, and against October 2025’s 48,654 units, a gain of roughly 3%. August and September had each come in below the same months a year prior, with the September shortfall measuring 4.61%. Year-to-date deliveries ran roughly 6.7% ahead of the first ten months of 2025.

The Sky Nomad series appears to be driving the recovery, with its September 7 debut marking Xiaomi’s first extended-range EV. It contributed 12,444 units in its opening month and pulled in upwards of 70,000 firm commitments within the first month on sale. Analysts tracking the brand’s model mix see the new series absorbing volume that had been eroding from the SU7 and YU7. Extended-range vehicles pair a combustion generator with a battery drivetrain, removing the range concerns that deter some buyers from fully electric models.

October’s strong showing still leaves the annual target as a significant stretch, with cumulative deliveries through the month clearing 336,490 units and covering only 61% of the 550,000-unit goal. Closing the gap would require averaging well over 100,000 deliveries monthly across these two months, nearly double October’s pace. Even matching October exactly through November and December would leave a shortfall of roughly 114,000 units.

For comparison, Li Auto pioneered the extended-range format in China and typically delivers well above 50,000 vehicles per month. Xiaomi enters that competition with about two and a half years of production experience and a narrower model range. Matching that scale will require Xiaomi to sustain and significantly exceed October’s pace for several consecutive months. Both figures will be confirmed when the CPCA releases its monthly data later in November.

China’s NEV market posted a 16.7% year-on-year drop in retail sales in September, the ninth month running below prior-year levels. That pressure makes October’s result more significant as evidence that a well-timed product launch can generate demand against weak conditions. China remains the only market where Xiaomi Auto currently sells vehicles, a factor that concentrates both its upside and its exposure.

For firms like Rivian Automotive Inc. (NASDAQ: RIVN) that don’t yet offer extended range models, the task is to come up with innovative ways to address concerns about range and convince buyers to acquire fully electric models.
