Ferrari Unveils its First Fully Electric Vehicle

Ferrari has officially pulled the curtain back on its first fully electric vehicle, signaling a major shift for a brand long defined by combustion engines and mechanical drama. The new model, called the Luce, marks Ferrari’s entry into the EV era with a four-door, four-seat layout aimed squarely at everyday usability, while still promising performance that sits firmly in supercar territory. 

Set to launch in 2026, the Luce is positioned as a family-friendly Ferrari without diluting the brand’s core identity. The car delivers more than 1,000 horsepower, draws power from a 122-kilowatt-hour battery pack, and targets a driving range of roughly 330 miles under European testing standards. 

Ferrari says the Luce is capable of accelerating from zero to 60 miles per hour in under 2.5 seconds, thanks to a four-motor electric drivetrain that allows precise control over torque delivery at each wheel. 

Electrification may be the headline, but design is where the Luce makes its boldest statement. Ferrari partnered with LoveFrom, the design firm founded by Jony Ive and Marc Newson, to shape the interior and key touchpoints of the vehicle. The partnership stretched over half a decade and involved close coordination between LoveFrom and Ferrari’s senior leadership, including chairman John Elkann and CEO Benedetto Vigna. 

Rather than leaning heavily into screens like many modern vehicles, the Luce emphasizes physical interaction. The cabin blends digital displays with tactile controls, machined metal switches, and sculpted surfaces designed to be touched rather than tapped. LoveFrom founder Ive said the goal was to create an interface that keeps drivers engaged through physical feedback, noting that flat, screen-only systems tend to dull awareness over time. 

Materials also play a central role in that experience, with the interior featuring extensive use of aluminum and specially engineered Corning Gorilla Glass. Roughly 40 components developed using this special scratch- and shatter-resistant glass were integrated throughout the cockpit. 

These include elements in the shifter, gauge cluster lenses, and center console, where magnetized lids open and close with deliberate resistance. Ferrari describes the materials as both durable and expressive, chosen as much for feel as for appearance. 

Instrumentation inside the Luce mixes old cues with new technology. A layered gauge cluster combines OLED displays with a physical needle to create depth and motion, while a central display allows toggle switches and a glass volume control to protrude through the screen itself. Even small details, such as the windshield wiper control, were designed as standalone objects rather than generic buttons. 

Performance still remains central to Ferrari’s pitch even as it adopts electrification. Despite weighing more than traditional models, the Luce uses its electric architecture to deliver instant response and stability, aided by independent motor control. Torque vectoring and software-driven dynamics are expected to play a larger role than raw mechanical tuning. 

As Ferrari prepares for the Luce’s full reveal in May 2026, the car stands as more than a new model. It represents a deliberate attempt to redefine how performance, luxury, and emotion translate into the electric age. For Ferrari, the challenge is not abandoning tradition, but proving that its spirit can survive without an engine note.
