Unnecessary EV Range Anxiety

You may have been paralyzed by the fear that your electric car battery may die while you are right “in the middle of nowhere.” The fact is that this is not going to happen to you. There are more charging stations around you, and you should drive without fear of being stuck. You should therefore ensure that your car is charged after cruising some miles. Here is how you can be sure your EV will take you wherever you are going, and back.

Charge at Home

You should install your own charging station at home to enable you to charge your vehicle quickly. For instance, in the U.S., you will have to establish a level 2 charging station while in Europe, you may install a 1-phase or a 3-phase depending on your residential space. With your charging station, you can freely charge your EV when not driving. When you do this, your battery will ever be full.

Charging is Different from Getting Gas

If you are driving a gas-filled car, you will probably go for gas when your gas is approaching the empty level at the gas gauge. That is not the approach with the EVs. With the EV, instead of you waiting for its battery to drain, you can recharge it anytime you are not driving. By this, you will always be on the road with enough power to move you around.

Utilize EV for Short Distances

You may have been anxious because you have heard that your EV can only go for 160km on a single charge. You may ask yourself what if I go for more than 160km, will I reach my destination. However, for most Americans, an average distance of 60km per day is all they cover. This distance can be covered well even with an electric car with the smallest battery around with half its charge, so in reality, you will hardly be caught in a situation where your EV runs out of battery power while you are on the road.

Charging Station Locations

In the US there are almost 44,000 public charging stations located in various streets and main highways. In Europe, an estimated 120,000 charging stations have also been established to help you load your car. This means you will barely drive around without noticing a charging station. Furthermore, you can use your smartphone to locate a charging station near you.

Improved EV Battery Life

The battery life of your electric can take you for longer miles than it was before. Today you can go for over 300 miles on a single charge using a standard battery. Besides, this has been predicted to improve, and soon you will have cars going as far as 750 miles on a single charge. You should therefore no longer fear owning an EV and having a fantastic drive.

Electric vehicle makers like Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ: TSLA) are even promising a battery that can run for a million miles before needing a top up charge, so range anxiety is now but a myth!
