Seattle Auto Show Showcases How Far EVs Have Come

The Lumen Field Events Center hosted the return of the Seattle International Auto Show. This weekend’s vehicles included GMC’s huge Hummer EV pickup. With numerous cars, trucks, SUVs, hybrids and other vehicles on display, electric vehicles (EVs) became the topic of conversation at the show. This proves that many car dealers are increasing their involvement in matters having to do with electric vehicles.

According to Tom Voelk, there is a paradigm shift in the EV industry, and these cars are needed by drivers. Voelk said this in reference to Chevrolet’s new Blazer and Equinox EVs. Voelk showed the media a variety of electric vehicles across the event center, including eye-catching models from Ford, Volkswagen, Audi, Kia, Nissan, BMW and Hyundai.

The Ford F-150 Lighting pickup, which made its debut at the display in the previous show, has been greatly improved with impressive lighting and wide tires intended for rough roads, even though it feels at ease on the streets of the city. Nonetheless, visitors were allowed to test drive it and feel its power this year. Voelk actually acknowledged that electrification had benefited the F-150 because the model’s sales in the United States had seen a threefold increase.

The presence of EV trucks at the show has admirably shown how far electrification has progressed. The decision by GMC to produce an electric Hummer is a wise move to demonstrate that electric vehicles have far-reaching potential that goes beyond the climate as well as the environment. The Hummer was created to help truck drivers feel at ease while operating electric vehicles.

Along with car displays, Seattle City Light and Tacoma Public Utilities frequently host an electric highway show to compare EVs from various manufacturers, including Ford, Chevrolet and Volvo. In addition, test drives can be conducted on all the vehicles available.

The topic revolving around system charging and charging stations availability undoubtedly came up at the show among attendees who are drawn to different EVs but are concerned about range. Voelk believes that this viewpoint is incorrect and should not be a subject of discussion, given that most people only drive short distances on a daily basis and do not travel long distances.

According to Voelk, electric vehicles perform best when they can be conveniently charged at home. Since charging takes longer for longer distances, people must make appropriate plans based on the distance they intend to travel.

EV trucks are a clear indication of how seriously the EV business is developing and how soon all of the industry will be powered by electricity, with battery tech from companies such as Kandi Technologies Group Ltd. (NASDAQ: KNDI) also evolving at a rapid pace to meet the diverse needs of the energy industry.
